 An evening event produced by the Chicago Taskforce on Violence Against Girls and Young Women and Chicago’s Rape Victim Advocates (RVA), inspired by their upcoming media toolkit on covering issues around sexual violence. Dialogue will follow around how to better the toolkit, and how to reframe the discussion around the issues of knowledge, language, and gender-based violence in the media. Everyone welcome!

RVA is an Illinois not-for-profit organization made up of many individuals with two primary goals: to assure that survivors of sexual assault are treated with dignity and compassion; and to affect changes in the way the legal system, medical institutions and society as a whole respond to survivors.

Supervisor Chicago Rape Crisis Hotline:: YWCA Metropolitan Chicago
Jenny will lead a group activity. The audience will analyze current reporting trends and will pitch in strategies. Jenny will respond with tools on how to better cover sexual violence.

The YWCA provides 24-hour medical and legal advocacy to victims of sexual assault, educates about the effects of violence in our community, provides free counseling services to victims and their significant others and promotes general health and wellness through our Sexual Violence and Support Services (SVSS).
